Syrian Hamster

The Hamster section at Emley Show is run in partnership with the Northern Hamster Club, who bring their expertise and judging standards to this specialist class.

It’s a well-organised and friendly competition, attracting exhibitors from across the region with a wide range of breeds and categories. Whether you’re an experienced exhibitor or new to showing, this section offers a welcoming environment to take part.

Classes

There is no pet class at this show.

Classes are run in line with Northern Hamster Club standards and include:

Syrian Hamster Section

  • Short Hair Straight Classes

  • Long Hair Straight Classes

  • Duplicate Classes

  • Special Class

How To Enter

Entries must be submitted in advance via the Northern Hamster Club and payment is to be taken in cash on the day.

Entry deadlines will be confirmed ahead of the show, and late entries are not usually accepted.

On the day, exhibitors should collect their labels at the show before benching.

All entries must be submitted in advance.

Key Information

  • Doors open: 9:00am
  • Animals benched: 10:30am
  • Judging starts: 10:30am
  • Entry fees apply per class (set by the Northern Hamster Club)
  • A limited number of show pens are available to hire (subject to availability)
  • Exhibitors must provide suitable bedding depending on the hamster type

Please note:

  • All animals must be presented in line with NHC standards
  • Food and water must be provided in each pen
  • Dogs are allowed on the showground but not in animal areas

Judging

All classes are judged to Northern Hamster Club standards, with animals assessed on condition, type, coat quality and presentation.

Classes progress through their individual categories, with selected entries moving into higher-level and challenge classes throughout the day.
