Emley Show has been part of village life since 1893.

What started as a traditional agricultural show has grown into one of the highlights of the local calendar, bringing together farming, food, crafts and community for a proper Yorkshire day out.

Over the years, the show has seen its share of challenges. Like many long-standing events, there have been pauses along the way — during the war years, outbreaks such as Foot & Mouth, and more recently the pandemic. But each time, it’s come back stronger, thanks to the people behind it and the community that supports it.

As the show has grown, so has its home. It’s moved between sites over the years to make room for more exhibitors, more visitors and more to see and do. Today, Emley Show takes place at Factory Farm on Emley Moor, by kind permission of the Hampshire family — a setting that’s become part of the show’s identity, with views across the Yorkshire countryside you won’t find anywhere else.

At its core, Emley Show is still about agriculture. It exists to promote and support rural life, while also raising funds to give back to local causes and individuals.
But just as importantly, it’s a day for everyone.

Whether you’re part of the farming community, entering a class, supporting a local business or simply coming along for the atmosphere, Emley Show is about bringing people together — and keeping a long-standing tradition going for the next generation.
